BACK

I have been absent a lot lately, simply due to a bunch of complicated real-life shananigans.
So, with PSN's final arrival,  I'm here to write again.

So, I was thinking today, what's one game that all people deserve to play? Well, that would be minecraft, if you've never played minecraft before, it's a game all about modifying blocks which make up a huge virtual world. Sounds bland on the surface I know, but really it's pretty complex and there's a lot of creations you can make as well as an online variant for those social butterflies out there. But really, if you enjoy video games, i suggest buying the minecraft beta..

Well..yeah. I think I gave in...

Salutations!
Okay, so this may seem...eh totally...and completely random...but today as I was sitting in my stupid Geometry class dazing off as usual, it dawned on me: "Hey...you know what? I don't play an MMORPG anymore." Anyone who knows me knows that I used to be a runescape player...(insert jeering remarks here please..) and about a year ago I decided it wasn't for me and cut the cord.
Well..it left me with that classic craving and I came home today googling up every free MMORPG I could possibly think of. After sorting through page after page of "generic anime MMORPG" I found a little something called "Lord of the Rings Online." It looked alright so I gave it a download and started playing. I must say it looks pretty promising so far, basically World of Warcraft type quality, just free and...Lord of the Rings-ish. I'll make sure to keep you good people posted on if it sucks or not. I'm getting some friends to hook up on it. If you want to join me feel free!

Fallout.

Alrighty, moving on from our last (unfinished) subject, into a fresh and springy new one!
In case you haven't been able to tell, I'm an enormous Fallout fan. This game really hits home with me in multiple ways. Most people have never played Fallout 1 or 2, just the more modernized games : Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas. I own all four of the games and enjoy them all, but since Fallout 3 and New Vegas share more relevance to people I'll be speaking about those.
Onwards! The main parts of Fallout 3 that really drew me in weren't necessarily the weapons or the combat, but, crazy as it sounds, the voice acting and atmosphere of the game was so well done, that the real feeling of immersion set in as soon as I showed up at my 10th birthday party in the vault. That's one thing Bethesda really did right, the voice acting and quests are just incredible. I mean what's better than crawling across the wastes looking for the last violin ever? Or deciding to nuke an entire city! Also, the leveling system may be a little bit unorthodox for a shooter-rpg (leveling up gets skill points) but it slips in nicely, and the perks really enhance gameplay.
I like to think of Fallout New Vegas as a giant, massive and great expansion pack to Fallout 3. It's better in a lot of ways and improves a lot on A.I. and the political aspect becomes extremely important (to my great pleasure) and the story is much more refined. New Vegas really is better than Fallout 3 because the story is so much more dynamic and varied. If you really want a riveting story experience comparable to a movie, look no further, New Vegas has got you covered.
Now...these games are not perfect however, they definitely have their weaker points...and I'm not doing a full review of them but I'll list a few. Fallout sometimes has some A.I. slip-ups (enemies stuck behind a tree). My PS3 copy of New Vegas freezes way too often to be natural, Fallout 3 had the exact same textures as Fallout New Vegas in some parts. And, the music can get a little bit repetitive.
Bottom line is I'd probably give these games a solid 9 out of 10. A lot of that is because of the massive replayablility, and the large volume of quests and weapons and how strong the quests are. I may do an in-depth review later but this won't be the last time I review something, and next time with much more depth, because I'm falling asleep and could've written much more.

Oh you knew it was coming.

Sup guys,
I think it's high time to get down to business. I'll probably have some 20 posts on this topic when it's said and done...but hey someone has to do it. Call of Duty. The sensation that has the world up in flames and head over heels. This is probably the most widely played console game on the face of the Earth. But, why?
I've played every Call of Duty game. That includes the very first one all the way to Black Ops. I can't help but feel a little bit stupid when I play the newer games, (Modern Warfare 2 and Black Ops). They're just so simplified and refined to the point where, quite frankly, it bothers me. Don't get me wrong, I've had some great times on the games and they're legitimately fun to play. It's just that they lack realism to me. I don't think the audience that Call of Duty goes for cares about realism or anything of the like. But, I mean, hey I'd love to see some normal melee combat (remember teleporting across the map?) or perhaps some recoil....I suppose my biggest beef with the game is that the guns don't feel right, I don't know how to say it...it's just that the assault rifles feel more like SMG's and the SMG's feel like machine pistols. It may sound like I'm whining, and truthfully, I am. But if they made guns harder to control and gave them a bit more "oomph" I'd enjoy the game a whole heck lot more. Then again...I don't play Call of Duty when I'm looking to have fun alone, I use it more as a party game, which it's amazing for. I'll leave the subject for a bit...but I promise this won't be the last time you hear about the Call of Duty franchise

In The Beginning....

Hey!
Well, here I am, first post blazing. Before I jump straight into business, I suppose I'll layout what this whole blog is about and why I'm writing it. Well, I play a LOT of video games and I know that they're certainly not created equally.  I'd love not only to do some reviewing on here, but maybe some just general thoughts on certain games or genres, etc. Basically, if it's game related, I'd love to talk about it here. I'm not really out with a purpose, just to inform people about what to try, what not to try, what I think is good...what I think is horrible...that's pretty much the basis upon which I'll set everything. I have some pretty nice topics in mind...so don't worry...I've got you covered!
